The rental of holiday apartments (and they are normally apartments, as most are illegal) is coming under increasing scrutiny by the regional government, as the government said it would. It has, however, been the practice to search the internet for evidence of illegal renting, so this is not exactly new, just that the searching will become more rigorous. Here is an example of how a review posted to the internet caught owners of an unregistered property in Santa Ponsa out: Diario de Mallorca
