There are ten nature parks and 24 public fincas of a natural type under the control of governmental bodies in the Balearics, and the environment ministry is presenting a plan to make them more sustainable and to also make them self-sufficient through commercial activities on the parks. It is noted that the parks in fact receive relatively few visitors while costing some ten million euros a year to maintain.
