The Balearic Government is not ruling out the possibility of introducing the so-called co-payment system in the public health service whereby a charge is levied on prescriptions over and above their normal cost. Catalonia has approved the introduction of this scheme, each prescription attracting a cost of one euro.

Update on this: Government spokesperson Rafael Bosch has said that the government has no plans for the introduction of such a system, thus contradicting the views of the health minister.
