MALLORCA TODAY - Son Vida fire not threatening homes

A huge plume of smoke from a fire near Son Vida in Palma will probably have been causing some disruption to air traffic. The fire, which started some time after 2pm, is at a low level of risk as homes are not threatened, but it is requiring the attention of Canadair, water-bombing helicopters as well as several fire crews. It is not known yet if the fire was intentional.

Update: The fire was under control by yesterday evening, some nine to ten hectares of wood land having been affected.
