The truly bizarre case of Nueva Rumasa and its "colourful" owner, José María Ruiz-Mateos, gets more bizarre and more serious. The judge in Palma investigating the affairs of Nueva Rumasa has ordered Ruiz-Mateos' arrest after he failed to appear at court on Friday, claiming that a fractured foot meant that he could not travel. The judge has now also confirmed that money raised through mortgaging hotels in the Hotasa chain in the Balearics was diverted.
