The Balearic Government's controversial, so-called green taxes, those that were to apply to car hire, certain packaging and commercial retail centres, are not to be implemented until at least the end of the current tourism season, meaning that they would not come in before November. In fact, the tax measures will be brought before the Balearic parliament in September for further debate and ratification or not. The government has faced enormous pressure not to bring the taxes in, this pressure including threats by big business to take it to court to prevent their introduction.
