MALLORCA TODAY - Proposal to cut main road speed limits
The director-general of Tráfico is to propose that the speed limit of 100kph which applies to many "carreteras" (main roads/highways) be reduced to 90kph. The proposal is on safety grounds. Last year in Spain 1730 people lost their lives in road accidents. Just over three-quarters of these fatalities were on single-carriage highways.
