MALLORCA TODAY - New stadium plans for Real Mallorca
At a cost of between 200 and 250 million euros, Real Mallorca hope to have a new stadium by 2016. A project to re-develop the Luis Sitjar stadium, abandoned since 1999 when the club moved to its current ground, the Son Moix, which is leased from Palma town hall, will include a commercial centre and other sports areas. The new stadium would have a capacity of 27,000 spectators, not that many more than the Son Moix can hold.
