MALLORCA TODAY - Bars and restaurants to close in smoking ban protest
With losses of up to 40% since the introduction of the smoking ban on 2 January, bars and restaurants in the Balearics have decided to take action to attempt to have the ban modified. One measure, to occur within the next couple of months but before the start of the tourist season, is that all bars and restaurants will close for a day. Another is that cigarette machines will be switched off. The restaurant association within the Balearics business confederation plans to meet with political parties in order to seek changes to the tobacco law.
