The Spanish National Competition Commission has imposed fines amounting to 35 million euros on seventeen hire-car companies and two associations. The fines relate to the operation of a cartel in respect of price-fixing and of conditions for various "extras", e.g. baby seats, and refer specifically to companies in Catalonia, Valencia, Andalusia and the Balearics. The largest fine - almost 15.5 million euros -has been imposed on Goldcar, while the second and third largest (respectively 5.5 million and 4.8 million) have been applied to Centauro and Record.
