The Spanish Government has approved a change to the classification of the military base in Puerto Pollensa which until now has limited the height of buildings on the base. By lowering the classification, the government is in effect accepting that the base's operations are no longer considered to be category A in terms of strategic importance. There has been no request as such for building on the base and were there to be, it would still have to be submitted for authorisation under terms of local planning law.
