Maria Antònia Munar, former president of the Council of Mallorca and leader of the disgraced Unió Mallorquina party, has been condemned to five and a half years in prison for abuse of public office, embezzlement of public funds, fraud and falsification of documents. The charges related to irregular grant payments made to a media production company, Video U. Miguel Nadal, the former vice-president of the Council and ex-tourism minister, has received a sentence of two years and seven months on the same charges; the lighter sentence is because he confessed. There will be appeals to the Balearics Supreme Court.
