MALLORCA TODAY - Unió Mallorquina name change; president cited

Not long after he had overseen a meting at which it was agreed that the Unió Mallorquina would change its name to Convergència de les Illes Balears, the party's president, Josep Melia, was cited, along with the party's secretary-general, to declare before the Palma judge presiding over the so-called "Operación Picnic" case. This investigation into the diversion of public funds and alleged vote manipulation has now led to further arrests of UM figures in Palma. Melia was called as he is the "legal representative" of the now ex-party.
