A game which arguably all turned on an incident in the 29th minute when Márquez, having been booked, then handled the ball and was sent off, a decision that looked more questionable when a Sociedad player, Ángel, did the same and escaped punishment. But Sociedad had come out the blocks faster than Mallorca and had looked more likely to score, though it wasn't until the second half that numerical advantage kicked in, Castro putting Sociedad ahead after 55 minutes before Vela and the Ifrán wrapped up what became an easy win. At home against 17th-placed Osasuna next week for Mallorca, a game that they need to win as they are now four points adrift of Osasuna in 19th.
