MALLORCA TODAY - Doctors' strike in the Balearics is called off

A strike by doctors in the public health service, due to have been staged today and to then have been indefinite, has been averted. The doctors (and other health workers) have responded positively to a proposal by the regional government that there be a new law that will deal with the issue of additional salaries paid to doctors since 2008 but which the government had been demanding were repaid and which had been at the heart of the dispute.
