MALLORCA TODAY - Cerdà will not stand as Pollensa's mayor

Joan Cerdà, the current mayor of Pollensa, will not be seeking selection once again after this spring's elections. The Convergencia i Unió per Pollença, which is the new party formed from the ashes of the Unió Mallorquina and with a particular Pollensa slant, will have at the head of its candidates, Joan Ramón Mateu, a virtual unknown in local politics and someone who was not affiliated to the old UM. Cerdà may stay in politics as a candidate for a position in either the Council of Mallorca or the regional government.
