Fairly clear skies before dawn and quite blowy. Alerts in place for wind and very poor coastal, marine conditions. Mainly sunny today but a strong northerly will feel chilly. Wind persisting into tomorrow, but the general outlook begins to calm down from tomorrow evening with a spell of fine weather in prospect through the weekend.
Evening update (19.15): Cloudier than expected in the morning, some rain in areas, but sunnier as the morning wore on. Very windy though. High of 14.8C.
