The conglomerate Nueva Rumasa, facing mounting accusations as well as mounting debts, has announced that it intends to sell off its hotels, those operated by the Hotasa chain, which include the Clumba Mar in Can Picafort. A week ago, the group was saying that everything was proceeding normally with the hotels this season and while the intention is that they should all open by 1 May, with the exception of the Beverly Playa in Peguera, which has already opened, there is some worry as to whether staff will be paid properly, as suppliers will be given priority by the cash-strapped company.
Meanwhile, Nueva Rumasa is said to still owe 1.4 million euros to Kraft Food for the purchase of the Quesería Menorquina in 2009.
