A decision by the Partido Popular-led town hall in Sa Pobla to allow businesses of an industrial nature to be located in the town as opposed to having to be on the industrial estate is said by opposition groups to be an act of favouritism towards friends of the party, an accusation that the mayor denies. The opposition maintains that certain businesses have opened illegally and that the decision has been taken in order to legalise them.
