The five refuges (hostels) on the dry stone route through the Tramuntana mountains will have received just over 18,000 guests by the end of the year. The annual cost of maintenance of the refuges has climbed to over one million euros, this cost being a principal reason why the Council of Mallorca wants to privatise two of them (one being in Pollensa).
