MALLORCA TODAY - Puerto Alcúdia restaurant owners face steeper terrace tax

The value of public land on the Paseo Marítimo in Puerto Alcúdia has increased by over 300%, this revision of its value having been undertaken by the ports authority (it has dominion over the land, not the town hall). This means that the tax for terraces on this public land will jump to an average of up to 12 euros per square metre. There has not been a revision of the value for over 20 years, and restaurant owners had been warned of an increase.

MALLORCA TODAY - Respect demanded from ports authority in Pollensa

Following yesterday's news regarding the ongoing spat between Pollensa town hall and the ports authority, the PSM party has called on the town's mayor to get the authority to show the town some respect.

MALLORCA TODAY - Pollensa continues its spat with the ports authority

First it was the sheds or whatever they are that were put up without consultation by the ports authority by Puerto Pollensa's marina parking area, now it's the bits of garden that the authority is meant to look after that is getting Pollensa town hall in a tizz. The town hall has taken on the garden maintenance because the authority isn't doing what it should.

MALLORCA TODAY - Puerto Pollensa marina cabins slammed

The PSM, among others, has criticised the reinstatement of wooden cabins next to the car parking area by Puerto Pollensa's marina. These have been put up by the ports authority without, it would seem, consulting with the town hall. Cabins were originally put up in 2005 and then taken down after objections by businesses, restaurant owners and the residents association in the port. The cabins' purpose would appear to be for nautical companies to be able to use them, subject to auction, for promotion.
