It has taken more than 30 years but work on the yacht club and other facilities at Can Picafort's marina has been approved by the regional government. Members will pay the half a million euros plus for improvements that should have been undertaken by a company to which management was ceded but which were never performed.

MALLORCA TODAY - Son Serra pier expansion opposed
The regional government has approved the expansion of the pier at the yacht club in Son Serra de Marina, provoking further opposition from local politicians. (The expansion has long been opposed.) The expansion is opposed because of the destruction of posidonia sea grass that would occur and which would go against European Union rules on marine protection.
