MALLORCA TODAY - Angry reaction in Pollensa beach affair

The neighbourhood association in Puerto Pollensa, which has been putting up sun beds and parasols on the resort's beaches despite not having been contracted to do so, has reacted angrily to accusations from Pepe Garcia of the Alternativa which suggest they might be being paid for this. The association is considering taking action for defamation.

Once again, the organisation of sun beds and parasols on the beaches of Puerto Pollensa is causing a fuss. The awarding of the contract for the beaches was not satisfactorily resolved last year, and now there is the situation in which the company which the town hall wishes to take on the management is claiming that the neighbourhood association, which has been putting up sun beds, has been receiving money for doing so, which it denies.

The Alternativa per Pollença has called for a legal investigation into what is going on, suggesting that there may be grounds for charges of misappropriation of public funds and "prevaricación" (which basically means wrongdoing in public office).
