MALLORCA TODAY - Alcúdia and Sa Pobla back Catalan

Alcúdia town hall had been quiet on the matter of whether it defended or not the right to use Catalan in the public sector, but it has now come out in favour of Catalan and so against the Partido Popular regional government. The vote in favour was assured thanks to the support of Carme Garcia, the non-aligned member of the administration, voting with the CxI and PSOE parties and therefore against her PP partners. In Sa Pobla, where mayor Serra had backtracked on his support for Catalan, the town hall has decided to incorporate itself into the Moviment per la Llengua, a movement started by former and current PP politicians on the island in defence of Catalan.
