MALLORCA TODAY - Weather Alcúdia and Pollensa 1 June 2011

A greyish start, especially dark clouds hovering over the Tramuntana, some sun but there is a breeze and the sea is quite turbulent. All in all, a bit of a stormy mix, though little rain is actually forecast for today and from midday on, it should be a decent day with a lot of sun later. The rest of the week and into the weekend is not looking particularly encouraging. Local temperatures at 08.00 around the 18 mark, depending on location.

What was meant to have been a decent enough day has in fact been pretty rubbish. Quite a bit of rain and feeling decidedly cool. The sun is coming out now, at 17.30, but the temperatures are way down, 15.1 in Alcúdia/Playa de Muro for instance. The day's highs in the areas have struggled to make 20.

Hard to think the current weather is anything more than an unseasonal blip. But the instability is due to last through the current weekend. By next week, from 6 June, things do look better, with 27 degree maximums and a mix of sun and light cloud. The problem is that the front that has come in has been unpredictable, so says the local Met office, but you should be fine by the second week of June. Hope so anyway.
