After three days during which the gaming salons were closed, the new Casino in Porto Pi has re-opened them, but there remain complaints brought by the association for games and recreational halls against the director and the Casino's architect which will be brought before a court in Palma next week.

The new casino in Porto Pi that was officially opened on Monday has been prevented from opening its gaming rooms because of a "denuncia" alleging that there has been a falsification of documentation, an accusation denied by the casino's operators.

MALLORCA TODAY - Casino to open in July

The new casino in Palma, which will see the current one in Sol de Mallorca closing, will open in July, three months behind the original schedule. The cost of converting the old cinema in Porto Pi, the site of the new casino, has exceeded by two million euros the initial estimate of 6.5 million. The casino, it is hoped, will have a minimum increase of 50% in custom, though the current casino has, over the past three years, seen a decline in revenue by around a half. The exact date for the opening has still to be confirmed.
